The books TDCJ don't want you to read

Heike Phelan has written the Convict series  in an attempt to expose the shocking realities of life behind the walls of Texas state prisons. Accepted institutional violence, neglect and corruption are the mainstay of the very secretive corrections department.

Based on the experiences of William, the events are real despite being written as novels, so as not to attract the ire of Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).

Both Child Convict and Career Convict were thoroughly scrutinised for any reason in which to ban them from state facilities.
